The Grand National at Aintree
The Grand National handicap steeplechase is over 4 miles 514 yards with 30 fences over two laps and a prize fund of £1,000,000 which makes it the most valuable jump race in Europe. With 600 million people estimated to be tuning in on their TV's, mobiles and tablets to watch the race in over 140 countries on the day.
A total of 40 horses and jockeys will line up for the biggest British horse racing event. The Grand National course has much larger fences than other jumps races. Fences for example: The Chair, Valentine’s Brook, Foinavon, Becher's Brook and the Canal Turn are just some of the famous ones that runners and rider need to defeat during the race.
